Michael Blevins proclaimed:
it. Peace Talks wasn't his best by far, and his knack for introducing next level bad guys, instead of working with what was already a nice cast of characters, limits what Dresden can really do. I miss Bob.
Battle Ground is much better, with awesome stuff from Mab, Molly, and especially Marcone. Bob also turns up, and I'm not spoilering anything by telling you that.

They were clearly one massive book, though, and there's no padding to make them two. Literally everything in the first book was needed to set up the second - and it turns out the enemy behind things is a familiar one.
If I had to guess who the villain was, I'd go with Nicodemus Archleone, but then I'm a sucker for old coins. What's your favorite of the series? I think I'd have to go with Changes. That was one helluva great read.
