Been listening to plenty old CDs in lockdown, but here are some of the new albums that I've really been digging:

Crypt Shift - Visitations from Enceladus

Vektor fans should check this out. scifi tech thrash/death.

Ulcerate - Stare Into Death and Be Still

Maybe their best yet. Still oppressive as ever but with a newfound melodic edge.

Vulkan - Technatura

Their last album Observants was amazing, so is this one. pure class, perfect modern alt prog rock.

Lord Vigo - Danse De Noir

Really cool/weird album. Trad doom taking into more interesting territories, Imagine Martin-era Sabbath meets, the Cure, meets, Blade Runner and you're on the right track. Pretty sure their older material is a bit less experimental, but this hooked me.

Katatonia - City Burials

I like this, but I think it's more because I haven't really listened to anything by them in a really long time, so it was nice to hear their song again, even though I'm not really the biggest fan. Seems like they step out of their comfort zone a bit more on this one.

Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin Kynsi

This band just keeps getting better and better, Album of the year so far. If you've every wanted to know how a black metal band would interperate kraut/psych/space rock, this is the best possible outcome.

Azusa - Loop of Yesterdays

Better than the first one, I think. Extol riffing >>>>>
Really like the vocalist too, not typical "chick vocal" stuff, has some weirdness, maybe a bit of Portishead vibes in the clean singing. Music is the best of both worlds, tons of headbanging riffage but also creative and usually unpredictable.
