That's definitely true of you, especially if you refine the description such that the act of adding to your collection is a more precise source of joy than the steady state of possessing a collection. Whereas for a lot of people, especially as they age, the main source of enjoyment is the comfort of the familiar, i.e. listening to stuff they've liked forever.

We're steadily moving towards a condition where a band's primary consumer product is t-shirt designs. It's pretty normal to see bands with more different shirt designs at their merch table than albums released. I've been on this train for years now; I am drowning in a mountain of shirts all over my room, closet, floor, etc. And I have four more en route to me in the mail right now. On the other hand, I haven't bought a CD since ~2017. (I steadily buy concert blu-rays though.)
