Not a lot for me this week.
Remember Shakti - Saturday Night in Bombay. Lately I've been trying to give the Remember Shakti stuff equal time to the original Shakti stuff. It's great, but a lot of the tunes kind of ramble and take way too long to wrap up.
Wild Dogs - s/t, Man's Best Friend. Reign of Terror is vastly superior to these first couple albums, but I like these, too, especially Man's Best Friend, which is like a US metal Raven or something.
Magnitude 9 - Chaos to Control. Catchy prog metal. The guitarist overuses the same few noodly tricks basically nonstop, though.
Lost Horizon - Awakening the World, A Flame to the Ground Beneath
Lavett - Find Your Purpose
Dimhav - The Boreal Flame
It's a Daniel Heimann love-fest over here! It's only a matter of time before I'm pulling out Crystal Eyes!
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve
Never gets old!
Headhunter - Parody of Life, A Bizarre Gardening Accident
Should be better, but still pretty good.
Kreator - Terrible Certainty
My fave Kreator, easily.
Extol - Synergy
I like the s/t better, but this is also killer.
Look What I Did - Minuteman for the Minute, Sympathy Porn
The new EP is very good, and compares favorably to pretty much everything else this band has done.
Rush - Grace Under Pressure. The Rush album I listen to most. Is it their best? Maybe? But it's at least the one that makes me happiest when I'm spinning it.
