Mysticum - Planet Satan

Cirith Ungol - I'm Alive CD/DVD set(live at Up the Hammers 2017: I was there, front and center, of course - and with huge hair still:) Tremendous show, one of the most charged and compelling sets I've ever been fortunate to witness. The ltd.boxset includes ton of collector stuff, including patch, badge, picks, drumstick, set list, 2LP vinyl, poster, and additional video/audio recordings of their sets at Keep It True, Rock Hard, and Hammer of Doom, which I also witnessed, and which, to their credit, they did not "doctor", or rather "rescue" in post, unlike some other Metal Blade "live" releases...cough...))

Sanhedrin - A Funeral for the World

Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior

Dawn - Sorrow Flew on Black Wings

Saw Negative Plane (boring as hell), Ominous Resurrection (if Profanatica had a lame drummer and wrote no riffs), and Barrow Wight (great Venom in Mordor punters from Canada)on Friday, then hit up another venue just in time to catch Toxik. Toxik sucks now: Josh (the only original/veteran person in the band) is plays very well, drummer is very good, bass player was excellent also - altogether somehow it comes off as heartless as a refrigerated corpse. New singer is a hapless wanna-be rockstar poser nerd with the most annoying choice of stage banter that made me wanna either punch him or leave: he acted like he was actually a part of "Think This"... There were maybe 30 people there to see them, the crowd and most of were admirably into it, headbanging and moshing and everything, but the singer (who wore denim shorts and took his shirt off as soon as his girlfriend entered the room) still bitched and begged for "more energy." Couldn't wait for it to be over.

Saw Obituary (who were boring as hell), Abbath (laaaaame WWF children's black metal as always) and Midnight (good, but not nearly as electrifying as they were in Norway) again on Saturday: sold out Gramercy.
