The first one has Wead. Hence, the first one is better. But, it's also probably worse than any album Wead actually wrote.
I don't have that one... yet. At some point I will finish the rest of the Leif Edling Catalogue, but this one just came with the (really, really, really terribly hot-mastered) reissue of Dactylis Glomerata.
I only own Black Book, and kinda don't want to pay what I'd have to to get these earlier ones.
I got it for $9.99 as a lossless download at Qobuz which... really seems like the right way to go here.
Ripping my VS discs RIGHT NOW. I didn't own Noble Savage or Life Among the Ruins, so I ordered them. I don't think I've ever actually heard LAtR.
Not owning Noble Savage is a Brian-tier "what do you mean you DON'T own X" hole in your collection. Well-played!

Life Among the Ruins is pretty good. It is definitely Virgin Steele leaning hard to Whitesnake-y pop metal with the worst timing of both their career and in rock history... but there's fine stuff on it. Mostly. "Invitation" is too silly to live, but at least it's followed with "I Dress in Black" which is a *jam*.
While Heaven Wept - "To Wander the Void" I think after I watched one of the Arch/Matheos promo vids, I queued this up, as it's basically the only Arch-clone vocal performance I can think of. Great tune.
Oh, yeah. I remember talking about this back in February. I still can't think of anybody else actively Arch-cloning it.
Baroness - Purple. Getting pumped for the new one.
Adult Swim's got the first track off the new one up as part of their new metal "mixtape" or whatever you want to call it, and that also seems pretty killer.

But the dynamics are still horrible.
Arch/Matheos - Winter Ethereal. Only two spins in, but I'm digging it. Matheos seems to have put a little more effort into his riff-writing. Arch is genius as usual. I appreciate that the rhythm section isn't the FW one, too.
I moved my pre-order from Amazon to Bandcamp because the CD wasn't coming in until Tuesday and I'm not going to stand for that.
