Virgin Steele - Hymns to Victory
Virgin Steele - Life Among the Ruins
Ripping my VS discs RIGHT NOW. I didn't own Noble Savage or Life Among the Ruins, so I ordered them. I don't think I've ever actually heard LAtR.
Life among the ruins is definitely a lot different,. Has more of a commercial whitesnake like sound that may throw you through a loop but it's actually not bad. The reissue has some cool bonus material

Shok Paris - Steel and Starlight. The best album from the best band from Cleveland. I fucking love this shit.
Probably the best album to ever come out of my hometown. If you haven't already gotten the reissue "The Auburn Sessions" of this album it's highly recommended. It has the original and much heavier sounding mix that was supposed to come out originally but when Breaker broke up Shok was next in line to get the big record deal with IRS and they thinned out the sound when it was remixed.

Whiplash - Insult to Injury. The best Whiplash, and also the silliest.
I agree. Whats funny about this is that I revisited this record less than a week ago. I forgot how good of an album this was.

Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence. Saw them opening for Overkill a week or two ago, and they played the title track, which inspired this listen.
Maybe im in the minority here but I like the newer Death Angel stuff better than their early material before they broke up. Voracious Souls is one of my favorite tracks by them they have ever written

Leprous - Malina. Been a few weeks. I was due.
Wasn't a fan of this that much. I will revisit it sometime. Bilaterial is still my favorite.

Arch/Matheos - Winter Ethereal. Only two spins in, but I'm digging it. Matheos seems to have put a little more effort into his riff-writing. Arch is genius as usual. I appreciate that the rhythm section isn't the FW one, too.
As Von pointed out today.....I believe you also participated in a thread with myself, Chris and Von as we talked about which singer in Fates Warning we liked better. Chris and I talked about how much we disliked the man's voice. (Arch). When the first Arch/Matheos album came out my opinion changed. Maybe I didn't pick up in his voice or melody lines the way you and Von did but now I really like his voice. One of the things I really like about his style of writing for his vocal melody lines is his vocal harmonies themselves.

Musically the album is amazing as well. Top notch stuff.
