The butthurt is real with Priest fans sometimes

Firepower was mediocre from a songwriting perspective but the production was good. Its called "polishing a turd" :P
Well, yes, that's the main portion of its mass appeal. A shiny turd. It's the glittery shimmering wrapping: babies and cats are known to prefer wrapping paper to what's inside.

Ram It Down is usually put down because it had that electronic 80s pop Turbo production. Had it been recorded with a "Painkiller sound", it would have been The Painkiller, i.e: The Album That Turned It Around, or "The Return to Form."
Its hilarious how people get so bent out of shape when it comes to this band. Not liking an album becomes a sin.

I actually do like Ram It Down. Blood Red Skies for example is one of the best songs they have ever written. I went and listened to it again for the first time in awhile. I don't consider it their strongest album but it's a solid release.

Call Firepower what it is.....not a terrible a great record. However the fanbase was so desperate for a "return to form" they become blinded by the stellar production which clouds the subpar songwriting. Its not a terrible record but its about as mediocre as you can be. I haven't liked much by them since Painkiller. I liked the more modern and aggressive approach on Jugulator but not a fan of Demolition. The one strength Priest has always had whether you love or hate their albums.....they really haven't made the same album twice. Maybe the closest this every happened was with Defenders of the Faith and Screaming for Vengeance.
