Moon Tooth - Crux

This will probably be in my top 5 of 2019 when all is said and done. Moon Tooth play a very unique style of prog metal that's really fun and catchy without sacrificing chops.
I wouldn't quite say they're that unique, but they are a really good band.
Who would you compare them to?

Devin Townsend - Empath

I couldn't even get through this entire album. I haven't been much into anything he's put out over the last decade, but this is barely listenable to me. It's like every one of the albums he's released over the last 10 years jammed into one.
I haven't been on Devy overload - I pretty much tuned out entirely after Addicted, so this album doesn't sound stale to me.
There's blast beats, there's typical Devy songs that all sound the same, there's goddamn Anneke again who sounds the same whenever she sings with him,
This seems like an empty criticism. Don't most singers sound roughly the same regardless of setting?
Not really. She sounds way better on that Amorphis track she recently did. And she always sounded unique with Ayreon. Arjen is a good example of getting the most out of singers within a changing context.
