Metal album review sites

In the age of Bandcamp and download blogs, I rarely bothered with review sites because it was just so damn easy to hear almost any album I wanted to check out. In addition, most review sites did not delve as deeply into the scene as I did, and I really did not give a shit what they thought of the latest Arch Enemy disc.

However, in recent years (at least 2016 and 2017), I have found it fruitful to peruse year-end lists of faves by writers at some of the review sites. Sure, as always, most of the albums I check out do not interest me, but I have certainly gleaned a fair number of titles to add to my coffers. Most of the discs I add are in genres that I do not exhaustively pick through throughout the year, such as traditional death, blackened death, black metal not labeled as progressive or melodic (accurate subgenre descriptions are often hard to come by in the blackened realm), and to a lesser extent, traditional metal. I have even been introduced to and enjoyed the occasional metalcore or doom album. For hard rock/hair metal/melodic metal, I rely almost exclusively on Pirage and Guillaume. :-)

I have found year-end lists at the sites below to be useful. In 2018, I plan to periodically check their reviews instead of waiting until the end of the year.

Are there any other sites you would recommend?
