John Arch - A Twist of Fate. I like the Arch/Matheos album better, but this is still amazing.I was just listening to A/M this morning. I am so grateful they decided to do this record. It's just a gift from out of the blue.
Ark - Ark, Burn the Sun. Remember when Jorn was the fucking best? These albums are untouchable.Jorn was really something before he went full Dio clone. The Ark material was his zenith.
Spiral Architect - A Sceptic's Universe. Still waiting for the reunion...I've been holding my breath for years.
Fates Warning - Inside Out. An underrated classic, in my book, that's almost, if not quite, able to stand up to the two albums before it. While I like APSOG and the newest one, in retrospect this was really the last hurrah of a band at their peak. Zonder's drumming is a little too twee overall, and that ballad is not good, but the good songs are great, and Ray would never sound this good again.I would say APSoG was the last hurrah, though I see the merits of your argument. Inside Out was an attempt to replicate the secret sauce of Parallels, which, in my opinion, they failed to do. Obviously a track like "Monument" is classic, but for me Parallels was the pinnacle of early 90s so-called commercial prog metal.
