The business models that rely upon compartmentalizing intellectual property have to conform to the new reality, or they will die due to economic extinction.

This process won't be complete for many years yet, but you can see the seeds of this revolution being planted already. At my job, for instance, there's a growing group of us who see the evils the patent system does to our industry... and we're the 1200 lb. gorilla in our particular market, meaning that patents are a net win for us.
