I don't tire of these converstions, even if they evolve/devolve into the same thing in the end. In fact, I still find them interesting - even hearing from the same old characters every time.

I like to hear the pro-downloaders discuss their views. I don't happen to download. I don't really like listening to MP3s. I, like many others here, have a collectors mentality - need to have the CD.

In real life though, I only know a handful of others that are like that. I have several friends that actually make fun of me for buying CDs. Why buy something that you can get for free? These seem to the majority of what I've encountered in real life. They don't download to evaluate - they download - end of story.

I used to LOVE to share a new CD I bought with people to try and turn them onto new music. Again, there are only a couple friends in real life I bother doing that with now as I know for most it just ends up rippped to their PC, in a shared area and spreads from there. They don't buy CDs.

Does the artist benefit? I don't think so. If anything, it cheapens it for me .... whether thats a correct way to look at it or not, it does.

I don't know. I don't know where things are going. I don't even know where I'd like them go, at this point.
