I agree. What we're seeing is a paradigm-shift, since people no longer want to pay for music. After all the baby-boomers die out, only a few die-hard fans who will pay for music will be left, but not enough to sustain the current music system.

If a musician can't handle this fact, either be creative or stop making music. In fact, I could care less if all of my favourite musicians stopped creating music altogether. Enough music has already been written to last me a life-time of listening pleasure.

I believe that musicians create and release music for public consumption in order to stroke their own egos. A musician records and releases music because they believe [hope?] that someone actually cares about their music. Fine, maybe people do, but in the end, its all about the musician wanting to satisfy some inner need of being needed by others.
