Well, outdated, redundant - whatever your prefer. There are older and newer methods of cat-skinning currently in use.

Either way, I know a number of labels that are funding tours and taking a percentage of ticket/merch sales, while providing recorded music at the same time. As I said, there are a number of pieces, and they all have their place in the puzzle.
